No database server
SQLite is embedded in LedgerSL. There is no separate database service to install, configure, monitor, or administer.
LedgerSL database
LedgerSL uses SQLite to keep desktop accounting installation and maintenance practical. That simplicity comes with a clear boundary: it is not a simultaneous multi-user network database.
SQLite is embedded in LedgerSL. There is no separate database service to install, configure, monitor, or administer.
Company accounting data is stored in a local database file, making the installation and backup path straightforward.
LedgerSL is designed for one user working with a company database at a time on a desktop or laptop computer.
The practical boundary
One person should work in a LedgerSL company database at a time. The database should remain on the local computer rather than being opened simultaneously by several workstations from a shared network drive.
Platform plan
Download the Linux installer now. A Windows version is planned, following its own build and installation testing.

The Ledger family
Organizations that need concurrent access, or simply prefer Firebird or PostgreSQL, can follow development of our server-based editions. LedgerPG is our flagship PostgreSQL edition, with Banking Center, Collections, and Cash-flow Forecast implemented in its current development build.
LedgerFB and LedgerPG build on the familiar Ledger desktop interface and core accounting modules. Their server databases support shared access, while edition-specific features such as the PG Banking Center extend the workflow.
For businesses that want a compact server database with shared access from multiple workstations.
Our flagship edition for a shared PostgreSQL company database. Recent additions include the Daily Work List, automatic backups, Banking Center reconciliation, Collections, and 13-week cash-flow forecasting.
